VIRUSES SLOWED AT N.E. TRACKS.(Sports)

The double bill of diseases that has blanketed New England's dog and horse tracks seems to be subsiding, with several animals getting well for each new one found ill.

On the horse front, New Hampshire veterinarians were relieved to find that sick breeding horses were not suffering from equine viral arteritis, the suspected culprit. EVA generally is limited to fever, swollen legs and scrotum and overheated feet, but among racers it can make mares abort and stallions pass the virus to their offspring.
