QLD: Rain forces rescues in north Queensland =2
A spokesman for Queensland Rail said flooding had closed the Mt Isa line at Pentland,west of Charters Towers, and the north coast line at Cromarty, 40km south of Townsville.
Rail freight services were operating as far as Ayr with perishable items taken by roadfrom there to Townsville.
Tonight's Inlander passenger train from Townsville to Mt Isa has been cancelled.
Repairs would begin on the track on both lines when water levels subsided, the spokesman said.
